PicoWay® Laser Pigmentation Removal

Treatment Description

Increased skin pigmentation can be caused by many factors, such as UV exposure, hormones, skin trauma, acne inflammation as well as genetic factors.

With laser pigmentation removal, the laser is drawn towards excess melanin in the skin and works to fragment the pigmented cells. By targeting only unwanted spots, the laser is able to safely reduce or eliminate blemishes on the face and body without touching the surrounding skin.

In just a few sessions, pigmentation is much less visible, leaving behind lighter, clearer skin. You may begin to see an improvement after the very first session, but 3 to 6 sessions are recommended every 4 weeks depending on the degree of sun damage or hyperpigmentation.

La Vitalité Med Spa is proud to be a leading provider of PicoWay® in Toronto.

Introducing PicoWay®

All PicoWay treatments use a picosecond laser with high power and ultra-short pulses. A picosecond is a trillionth of a second! The ultra-short pulses with PicoWay are important because they lead to a “photoacoustic” effect that avoids heating the skin rather than a photothermal (or heat) approach that heats the skin and can lead to side effects, such as downtime and scarring.

Because PicoWay uses ultra-short laser pulses, the result is a laser that has low to no downtime after treatment. Users can resume normal activities and even apply makeup over acne scarred or wrinkle treated skin within a day of treatment.

The PicoWay laser reaches under the skin for its impact, leaving the outer layer of the skin intact. The ultra-short pulses vaporize their targets before the skin has the chance to overheat. Targets can be pigment from a tattoo, melanin in the skin that causes dark spots, or areas in the dermis (a layer under the outer skin) where tiny spaces can be created to allow room for new collagen and elastin growth in the treatment of acne scars and wrinkles.

Post-Treatment Prevention

Pigmentation can be prevented by applying daily sunscreen, seeking professional skincare treatments, and maintaining a healthy, stress-free lifestyle.

With our help, your skin can look healthy and youthful.

Client Testimonials

During the procedure, the laser produces a beam of high-energy light, which is then converted into therapeutic heat energy that penetrates deep into the skin.

This treatment targets dark spots on the skin because the laser is absorbed only by cells containing the excess melanin that causes discolouration.

Following treatment, the pigmented area typically darkens as melanin particles are broken down by the body and fade.

Picosecond lasers are further proven to reduce wrinkles by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin.

Laser pigmentation removal is a quick, gentle and non-invasive treatment.

The light pulses produced by the laser can feel similar to the flicking of a rubber elastic band and for most people is not too uncomfortable.

Laser pigmentation removal is commonly performed on the face, chest and back.
