If you are looking for a laser treatment that acts below the surface of the skin and offers low to no downtime, then the PicoWay laser may be the right laser for you. PicoWay laser treatment can remove tattoos that you no longer want.
PicoWay® is a picosecond laser with high peak power and ultra-short pulse durations for a photoacoustic, rather than a photothermal effect that can overheat the skin. The majority of PicoWay® patients report high patient satisfaction and low to no downtime.
PicoWay® has a higher peak power of 0.9GW compared to the peak power of 0.36GW of PicoSure, making the PicoWay® laser more effective in clearing tattoos. The PicoWay® can deliver a shorter pulse duration of 300ps (picoseconds) to shatter tattoo pigment, whereas PicoSure operates at 750ps. As a photoacoustic laser, the PicoWay® fractures tattoo ink through vibration whereas PicoSure uses photothermal energy to heat the skin, which can lead to longer downtime.
Possible side effects with the PicoWay® laser are temporary and expected as part of the laser treatment. Patients experience low to no downtime. In some cases, patients may use a topical anesthetic to enhance comfort during the treatment. Some common side effects include redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, tingling or purplish spots.
There will likely be some pain and discomfort with laser tattoo removal treatment. Luckily, the PicoWay® laser is more effective at removing unwanted ink with less pain when compared to traditional lasers.
This is due to the fact that a laser delivers energy in ultra-short pulses spaced one picosecond, or one trillionth of a second, apart. The shorter pulse duration results in less pain relative to other laser systems.
In addition, a topical numbing agent can be applied on your skin to further manage the pain. The laser works by shattering the tattoo ink into tiny particles, which are then removed naturally by the body.
Yes, treatment with the PicoWay® laser has low to no downtime. Most people can return to their activities of daily living shortly after treatment. You may need a bandage to keep the treatment area dry for a few days following tattoo removal.
PicoWay® laser tattoo removal treatment cost will vary depending on the size of treatment area and number of treatment sessions required. In general, it can be assumed that treating a large tattoo costs more than treating a small tattoo.
