Microdermabrasion Procedure

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses a minimally abrasive device to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells on the skin’s surface.

During the procedure, the mechanical exfoliation wand vacuums away dead skin and impurities.

This treatment is performed by a medical esthetician using a special microdermabrasion device.

There are two common methods of microdermabrasion:

  • Crystal microdermabrasion. Tiny crystal particles are sprayed onto the skin through a wand to exfoliate the surface of the skin.
  • Diamond-tip microdermabrasion. A diamond-tipped handpiece makes direct contact with your skin as it rotates to gently exfoliate dead cells.

Both techniques work by loosening and suctioning away dead skin cells to reveal younger skin cells.

In addition, medical skincare products will be introduced post-treatment.

Microdermabrasion is a procedure used to treat uneven skin tone, skin discolouration, and dull skin.

Microdermabrasion gently removes the top layer of dead skin cells from the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and improving the skin’s complexion.

The length of a microdermabrasion treatment is around 30 minutes.

Depending on your skin care goals, the recommended frequency of microdermabrasion treatments is every two to four weeks apart.

There is no recovery period after microdermabrasion, so you can return to normal activity at any time. It is important to wear sunscreen after treatment as the treated skin becomes more sensitive to the sun.

One of the advantages of microdermabrasion is that side effects are minimal. Most individuals will experience short-term redness that will improve within just a few hours.

Most clients do not require recovery time after microdermabrasion. If there are any side effects, such as short-term redness, we will make sure most of it goes away before you depart our clinic. Any redness will tend to disappear within 24 hours.

For most people, the skin will recover for the next microdermabrasion session within a week.
